National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in McLeod Lake

On Thursday, Sept. 26, we are coming together as a strong Tse’Khene Nation… we do more than acknowledge that pain. We are taking steps toward healing, toward rebuilding the spirit of our people. The 94 Calls to Action have given us a roadmap, a guide to reclaiming what was taken from us. Here in McLeod Lake, we are beginning to see the seeds of positive change being planted!

We must remember that we are investing in our children, ensuring they have the education, support, and cultural connections that were denied to so many of our ancestors. We are building bridges between our elders and our youth, so that the wisdom and stories of the past are passed down, not as a burden, but as a source of strength and fortitude!

Our elders, who have seen and lived through so much, are finding peace of mind in witnessing these changes. They are seeing the beginnings of a future where our youth stand tall in their identities, proud of who they are and where they come from. They are seeing a community that is uniting acknowledging the pain, but also embracing the healing that is taking place… Please, come and join us … because it is the time to honor and celebrate!
